On the roads of Burgundy, we continue our tour with the discovery of a domaine exciting: the Domaine Jean-Louis Trapet. Between discovering the guest house and the warm welcome from the father, Jean Trapet, we were truly won over.

First, we discover the guest house of Domaine Jean-Louis Trapet has Gevrey-Chambertin. A very pleasant moment. The blend of typical cuisine from the Burgundy as well as sumptuous wines from Domaine Trapeze of Gevrey-Chambertin and from Riquewihr (Alsace) delights us. It was an ideal moment to discover sumptuous harmonies: Latricières 2014, accompanied by beef bourguignon and homemade mashed potatoes. Delicious!

After discovering and rediscovering the wines of domaine, We toured the winery, just a few steps from the guesthouse. Jean Trapet, Jean-Louis Trapet's father, gave us a warm welcome, full of passion and joy. We then entered the heart of a beautiful domaine A family business that has preserved values of sharing, passion, and authenticity. Upon arriving at the winery, Jean Trapet uttered the following words: "When you enter your cellar, you are silent." At that moment, time stood still. We listened to the silence, smelled the aroma, and admired the beautiful vaulted cellar. We absorbed the entire history of this domaine family. Through the visit, we understand that Jean-Louis Trapet, Jean's son, thought very early on about the biodynamicsIndeed, in 1992 he already had the idea of implementing biodynamic farming within the domaine. He would, however, fulfill his wish four years later. It seems important to specify that the Domaine Trapet consists of two domains: one to Gevrey-Chambertin and one to Riquewihrin Alsace. In total, the estate owns 18 hectares in Burgundy and 14 hectares in Alsace. This expansion in Alsace was made possible thanks to Andrée, the wife of Jean-Louis Trapet. Her parents originally owned about one hectare of vines in Alsace. After her father's death, Andrée decided to take over the estate. She expanded it over the years through successive purchases of plots. Today, Jean-Louis and Andrée's eldest son manages the domaine Alsatian while their second child finishes his studies before returning to Gevrey.
