Château Potensac, among the greatest names of the Médoc
A vineyard with typical Médoc charm
The vineyard ofChâteau Potensacrests on an exceptional terroirtypical of the MédocIndeed, its 60 hectares lie primarily on a hill with a limestone subsoil covered by clay-gravel slopes. The proportion of gravel is very high, but sand and gravelly sand are also present. In terms of grape varieties, there is 49.6% Merlot, 33.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15.7% Cabernet Franc, and 0.9% Petit Verdot.
The vines are on average 38 years old, with some plots of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon planted over 80 years ago. These very old vines produce perfectly ripe and healthy grapes, ideal for producing truly great wines. The owners ofChâteau Potensachave chosen to cultivate according to the principle ofintegrated farmingThat is to say, without any pesticides or herbicides. This allows one to adapt to the environment, respect it, and thus get the best possible results. It is true that having aexceptional terroir, as is the case in theMedoc, is not enough without the proper know-how to cultivate it in the best way.
