The history of the Estate

It was in 1996 that thePartridge Estatewas taken over by theDevillard familyInitially, most of the estate's production was sold to a wine merchant and did not enjoy the recognition the place has today. Following the acquisition of this exceptional property,Robert Parkerindicated that we could still make high-quality discoveries on the greatest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. The estate's vines were in perfect condition, but significant investments were made in the winery to incorporate modern winemaking techniques: sorting on tables, temperature control during vinification, and pneumatic punch-down.

Domaine des Perdrix is ​​present on12 hectareswith more than half inPremier Crusand inGrands Crus, which are distributed across: Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru “Aux Perdrix” (almost a monopoly, 99%) and Echezeaux Grand Cru (mainly on the upper Echezeaux).

Following Burgundian tradition, the Domaine's 12 hectares are planted at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare. The average age of the vines is35 years oldThe vines are cultivated using sustainable farming practices withlimited input of treatment products.
The wines are mostly aged inoak barrelswith a quarter of the vines replaced each year. Bottling takes place when the wines still have their primary fruit and floral aromas.

The Domaine des Perdrix imposes a lotrequirements(meticulous work in the vineyard, low yields, pursuit of optimal ripening), which allows for the production of verygreat wines.
