Run by Isabelle and Jean-Yves Vantey since 1998, this domaine on a human scale (around 6 hectares) perfectly embodies the renewal of Burgundy, far from the splendor of large houses and close to the earth.

          A Peasant Philosophy: Organic and Biodynamic

          THE domaine did not wait for fads to turn towards respectful viticulture.

          • Certification: Organically farmed from the start, the domaine has moved on to the biodynamics (Demeter certified) in 2008.

          • Soil Preparation: Jean-Yves Vantey places great importance on the microbial life of the soil. Horses are frequently used to prevent soil compaction, allowing the roots to draw the pure expression of the terroir.

          • Minimal Intervention: In the cellar, the philosophy is one of controlled "laissez-faire": indigenous yeasts, homeopathic doses of sulfur (or even no sulfur at all on certain vintages) and no chemical inputs.

          The Land: Maranges and Beyond

          THE domaine is primarily based on the appellation Maranges, a terroir often underestimated which nevertheless offers a fascinating complexity thanks to its marl-limestone soils.

          • The Reds: Primarily made from Pinot Noir grapes. They are distinguished by their vibrant fruit, their straightforwardness and an elegance that matures beautifully over time.

          • The Whites: Made from Chardonnay and Aligoté grapes. They are renowned for their tension, saline minerality and great crystalline purity.

          The Style of Wines

          The aim here is not massive extraction or demonstrative oakiness. The wines of Rouges Queues are:

          • Authentic: They faithfully reflect the variations of each vintage.

          • Digestible: Their wines are characterized by great "drinkability"; they are wines meant for sharing.

          • Energetic: There is a special vibration in these bottles, a freshness that often calls for a second glass.

          The name "Rouges Queues" refers to the redstart, a small bird very common in the vineyards of domaine, symbol of a preserved and dynamic ecosystem.
