          The Castello di Ama estate through the centuries

          A TRUE REFERENCE ESTATE IN TUSCANY

          The domainCastello di AmaIts origins lie in the heart of Tuscany several centuries ago. Indeed, around 500 years ago, viticulture was already present in the region, practiced by a group of families dedicated to cultivating the land around them. The quality of the wines produced is such that during a visit toLeopold II, also known as Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Habsburg-Lorraine, noted the meticulous care given to the soil and its extraordinary fertility. The Castello di Ama estate was finally established in its current form in 1970, once again through a group of families whose aim was to create aChianti Classicothat are ranked among the best. The coupleLorenza Sebasti and Marco PallantiThey finally acquired the estate to become its sole owner. They continued the work begun by their predecessors, aiming for indisputable wine quality. It can be described as a resounding success, with the property regularly receiving awards in numerous rankings. It also...reference figurein terms ofChianti Classico in TuscanyTherefore, their objective has been successfully achieved.

          An incredible diversity of soils

          THE UNIQUE QUALITY OF THE TERROIR

          The vineyard ofCastello di Ama estateaccounts for nearly80 hectaresand is located in the heart of the magnificent landscapes ofTuscanyand more specificallyaround the village of Amafrom which it takes its name. It is composed of different vineyards bought successively, in 1972 for three of them and in 1997 for the last one.Each one has its own specific terroir and orientation.This gives the wines produced a certain originality and typicity. Each of these plots has retained its traditional name for easy identification, all being located betweenaltitude 450 and 500 meters.

          • The first plot of the Castello di Ama estate is the Bellavista vineyard. Its soil isstony clay-limestoneand the vines are oriented south-southwest.
          • The second plot, from the La Casuccia vineyard, has a terroir essentiallyclayeyand is oriented west-southwest.
          • Next, the third vineyard that makes up the Castello di Ama estate,San Lorenzo is exposed to the east-southeast.Its soil is mostly composed oflimestone and clayey shale.
          • Finally, the last vineyard,Montebuoni Vineyard, is the most recently acquired plot and has soil with a high clay content at the bottom of the slope, while the higher areas are composed oflimestone and pebbles.
