Jérôme Ogier and Damien Robelet
a joint project
Jérôme Ogier, who had studied agriculture specializing in arboriculture and viticulture, was a fruit producer. However, he wanted to diversify his business by producing grapes, with the aim of selling them to winemakers. He then seized the opportunity to acquire somefamily landsand also those of several neighbors to achieve its goal.
Damien RobeletFor his part, he had obtained a degree in agricultural engineering with a specialization in viticulture and oenology. He then worked at Domaine du Monteillet with Stéphane Montez, and later with Yann Chave. When he joined Jérôme, he proposed continuing the process all the way to transforming the grapes into wine. Thus, shortly after starting their project and founding theDomaine des Sérines d'OrThe idea of raising their own wine and selling it directly became obvious to them.
Syrah
a sublime grape variety
The Serines d'Or vineyard covers 2.3 hectares. It consists mainly ofSyrahwith a touch of Viognier (30 ares). Syrah was formerly called Sérine, which inspired François, Damien's father, to find a name for the estate. The initials of its two winemakers, Ogier and Robelet, were added to the name of the estate as we know it today.
AtDomaine les Sérines d'OrThe production of grapes receives meticulous attention. Their vinification takes place in a highly respectful environment, allowing for the natural expression of the grape variety and the terroir. The estate cultivates its vineyards using sustainable farming practices. Jérôme and Damien are careful to limit chemical treatments of the vines to the bare minimum. They employ all methods that can avoid such use:
- bud removal
- depilation
- striptease
This meticulous work lends elegance and freshness to their wine. All the progress this young estate has made has earned it the reputation of a...rising value.
Seyssuel PDO
a major objective
The estate offers appellation winesIGP Collines RhodaniennesHowever, this could change in the near future, as an application is currently being processed to obtain theSeyssuel PDOThe arguments put forward are substantial: the greatest winemakers have known for some years now that the terroir of Seyssuel is at least as high quality as its neighbour on the other side of the Rhône, Côte-Rôtie.
Indeed, the soil and subsoil are similar, and the exposure may even be better. However, his vines are younger than those of his neighbor. The "L'Âme Sœur" cuvée from Ogier in Seyssuel, named for the similarities between its terroir and that of Côte-Rôtie, supports his application for the creation of a Seyssuel AOP. The famousStéphane OgierJérôme's cousin, Damien, makes no secret of his ambition to produce wines in Seyssuel that surpass most Côte-Rôtie wines. Jérôme and Damien are therefore committed to growing high-quality grapes to obtain rich and complex wines that reveal their sublime terroir. Their two historic cuvées, EncOr and Les Sérines d'Or, are a fine example of this.
