Domaine Robert Groffier

Located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Robert Groffier Père et Fils spans the iconic appellations of Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, exceptional terroirs that give rise to some of Burgundy's greatest expressions of Pinot Noir. This prestigious vineyard is notably home to the legendary Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses, an absolute benchmark of finesse and elegance. At the helm of the estate, Nicolas Groffier crafts remarkably precise wines, renowned for their balance, depth, and exceptional aging potential.

Founded in the 19th century by Frédéric Groffier, the estate is part of a family tradition passed down through generations. Driven by the same high standards, the Groffier family works with deep respect for the soil and the environment, favoring attentive and sustainable viticulture. This approach, combined with expert craftsmanship, allows Domaine Robert Groffier Père et Fils to produce distinctive, authentic wines deeply rooted in the identity of their terroirs.

“The new generation is breathing new life into this renowned estate. Nicolas Groffier, born in 1984, and his younger sister Julie are now at the helm. From village wines to grand crus, the wines are refined, with a silky texture that perfectly symbolizes the estate's style, which focuses on concentration in the grapes rather than in the cellar, using a variable proportion of whole clusters. A successful gamble across the entire range.”

Vineyard

Since 2005, Nicolas Groffier has managed the family estate with unwavering dedication to respecting the vines and their environment. He favors sustainable viticulture, based on meticulous work, vine by vine, to closely monitor each plant's needs. This demanding approach extends to the cellar with precise winemaking, designed to produce great wines for aging, which reveal their full complexity and depth after several years of maturation.

The Domaine Robert Groffier Père et Fils vineyard spans 8 hectares of shallow, brown, calcareous soils, promoting deep root systems and a true expression of the terroir. With an average vine age of 40 years, these plots give rise to some of Burgundy's most iconic wines, such as Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses, Bonnes-Mares, and Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze. The resulting wines are distinguished by remarkable elegance, great precision, and the ability to offer tasting experiences of rare intensity.
