The Château d'Issan vineyard is planted on clay-gravel soils, characteristic of the Margaux appellation. These well-drained soils allow the vine roots to penetrate deeply, accessing essential nutrients. The temperate oceanic climate, with maritime influences, ensures optimal grape ripening. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are cultivated with care, promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture. Each plot is worked to reflect the diversity of the terroir, contributing to the unique expression of each wine.

    Owner and history

Today, Château d'Issan is managed by the Cruse family, who acquired the estate in 2000. Passionate about winemaking, they undertook extensive improvements to the vineyard and winemaking facilities. Their goal is to produce wines of exceptional quality, true to the identity of the Margaux terroir. Through quality management and a deep respect for tradition, they have restored Château d'Issan to its former glory, making each vintage a true benchmark within the appellation.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château d'Issan is a meticulous process, blending tradition and innovation. The harvest is done by hand, ensuring rigorous selection of the grape bunches. After delicate destemming, the grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for a gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. Aging takes place in oak barrels, some of which are new, for approximately 16 months. This care taken at each stage of winemaking results in wines of great complexity, capable of aging gracefully while preserving freshness and balance.
