The Clos du Marquis vineyard stretches across exceptional terroirs in Saint-Julien, where the soils are primarily composed of gravel, sand, and clay. This unique blend ensures optimal drainage and promotes even ripening of the grapes. The vines, some several decades old, are cultivated with care to guarantee high-quality production. The region's oceanic climate, with its hot summers and mild winters, also contributes to the aromatic richness of the wines. Each plot is meticulously monitored and managed to reveal its full potential.

    Owner and history

Today, the Clos du Marquis is managed by the Delon family, who also own the Château Léoville Las Cases. This family, deeply rooted in the Bordeaux terroir, has maintained the authenticity and quality of the wines produced. Their approach focuses on sustainability and respect for the environment, while preserving the region's winemaking traditions. Thanks to their commitment, the Clos du Marquis continues to shine on the international wine scene, captivating wine lovers with its finesse and unique character.

    Vinification and aging

The vinification of Clos du Marquis 2017 is carried out with the utmost care. The grapes are harvested by hand, allowing for rigorous selection. After gentle destemming, the berries undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, promoting a gentle extraction of tannins. Aging takes place in oak barrels, some of which are new, to impart complexity and structure to the wine. This aging process lasts approximately 12 months, allowing Clos du Marquis to develop its full aromatic range while retaining the balance and freshness characteristic of great Bordeaux wines.
