    Owner and history

    Three parcels comprise the estate's vineyard. The 114 hectares of Château Lafite-Rothschild are located in Pauillac, on soil composed of windblown sand and deep gravel with a subsoil of Tertiary limestone. The grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (71%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (3%), and Petit Verdot (1%) are cultivated primarily on the Carruades plateau and are used to produce their second wine.

    Vinification and aging

    - The grape harvest is done by hand
    - Vinification by plot in traditional oak vats and temperature-controlled stainless steel vats
    - Aged for 16 to 20 months (80% new oak barrels), the rest in vats
    - Bottling with fining using fresh egg whites
