From French Grand Marnier to Chilean Grand Wine
A family story
In theLapostolle familyDistilling is a family affair. In 1880,Louis-Alexandre Marnier LapostolleShe created a liqueur made with Cognac and bitter orange, known as Grand Marnier. This was the beginning of a beautiful story for the family. During a trip to the heart of the Colchagua Valley in Chile, Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet fell under the spell of this region.
In 1994, the Lapostolle Bournet couple decided to found theCasa Lapostolle Estatewith the aim of creating a great wine for the world inbiodynamics. THECasa Lapostolle Estateis considered one of the pioneers in Chilean wine development. This vineyard has established itself worldwide and is among the country's greatest wines. The estate is now one of the world's leading destinations for luxury wine tourism. Since 2013, Charles-Henri de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle has taken over the estate. He is doing everything possible to ensure that theClos Apaltato be recognized as a very great wine throughout the world.

An exceptional territory
The Atalayas vineyardcovers an area of 43.3 hectares and is located in the valley ofCasablanca27.5 km from the coast and 76 km west of Santiago. Since 1997, plots ofchardonnayandPinot Noirvines have been planted. The climate is exceptional, as the strong influence of cool winds lowers temperatures in the valley. Furthermore, the very low rainfall promotes a slower ripening of the grapes.
For its part, the vineyardLas KurasIt has 109.9 hectares of vineyards and is located 100 km south of Santiago. It producescabernet sauvignon blanc, sauvignon blancas well as theSyrahThe presence of rocks at ground level promotes excellent drainage and therefore better aeration.
The Apalta vineyardwas planted inCarmenère, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Syrah.It is located in the wine region, 200 km fromSantiagoThanks to the hills surrounding the vineyard, the old vines located in the lowest part of the vineyard receive groundwater which provides an optimal supply of natural water.
