    This vintage pairs well with a fine veal stew, creamy poultry with porcini mushrooms, or monkfish confit in olive oil. If you are enjoying it young, it is advisable to decant it or at least open it well in advance of tasting.

    Owner and history

    Clos Romans is considered a Grand Cru, even though no official classification system exists in the Loire Valley. This walled vineyard, barely 11 ares in size, sits on the banks of the Loire River and boasts very low yields. The Chenin Blanc vines take deep root in clay-sand soils with limestone subsoil. The vineyard is cultivated biodynamically and plowed by horse to avoid compacting the soil.

    Vinification and aging

    - Hand-harvested grapes
    - Fermentation in 400 and 600 litre barrels
    - Aged on fine lees for 9 months
    From the vine to the cellar, everything is done to preserve the integrity and purity of the grapes.
