Owner and history

The Grands Échezeaux vineyard is located in the commune of Flagey-Échezeaux, near Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot. This exceptional terroir, classified as Grand Cru, rests on clay-limestone soils rich in minerals. This particular soil, combined with a temperate climate, gives the wines a powerful structure and remarkable aging potential. The organic viticulture practiced by Joseph Drouhin allows the full authenticity of this unique terroir to be expressed. Yields are deliberately limited to ensure exceptional aromatic concentration and perfect ripening of the Pinot Noir.

Vinification and aging

At Joseph Drouhin, winemaking is a true quest for precision and authenticity. The grapes are harvested by hand, with meticulous sorting before fermentation in wooden and stainless steel vats. A gentle, extended maceration allows for the extraction of the fruit's essence while preserving the elegance of the Pinot Noir.
The wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, with 20 to 30% new oak. This barrel aging imparts a subtle woody note to the wine, while refining its texture and enriching its aromatic complexity.
